Oh me, oh my! We are living in exciting times at the moment! My amazing friends and I have some crazy plans to go and see Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland dressed up as charatcers from the film! Naturally I am to be dressing as the Queen of Hearts :D Over the past few days I have been scouring Ebay and managed to procure...
Red strapless dress
Black net petticoat
Gold glittery crown
Red heart quilted earrings
Red heart glittery ring
I will be teaming the above with...
My corset
Suspenders/stockings (ive found some lovely black ones with red lace tops in Ann Summers)
Black satin gloves
A red cloak which Fen is very kindly lending me
Add to that some crazy make-up + backcombed spray painted hair and we are good to go! I am sooooooooooo excited!!! :D
Also, exciting news on the boy front, more of which later :)
A week or two ago I watched the final episode of Battlestar Galactica, and I have to say I was very impressed. I didn't know how they were going to tie up the character's stories, I actually thought that they would kill off a lot more than they did. I especially loved the way they tied up Gaius and Caprica; everybody seemed to get the ending that they deserved, apart from perhaps Starbuck (that's what you get when you let actors have a say in how they think the storyline would pan out). But then again Starbuck was a fighter, somehow I couldn't see her settling down and becoming Mrs. Lee Adama, so perhaps it was a fitting ending. It actually made me quite sad, I started watching it again from the beginning! Never imagined I would get so hooked on it but the characters just draw you in, couldn't even name a favourite also Tricia Helfer's portrayal of Caprica is amazing, especially since it was her first major role (before this she was a model.) I have also realised the reason that I am single is because I do not look like her! (See photo)
I simply had to share these photos with you all. It's simply amazing. This is Dita Von Teese in her wedding dress; it is of course Vivienne Westwood, who is quite simply the number one wedding dress designer out there (followed closely by Vera Wang). The dress is huge but manages not to swamp Dita's petite frame, making the most of her tiny 16-inch waist. The deep purple colour contrasts beautifully with Dita's alabaster skin and dark hair. I didnt think that red and purple would go well together but the bouquet and dress compliment each other beautifully. I love Westwood's designs, they're edgy yet ultra-feminine. They have a very mediaeval quality about them, very structured and featuring lots of corsetry; she is one of the designers who actually celebrates curves, all her clothes are designed to enhance the female shape. Her shoe designs are very reminiscent of 'Chopines' the mediaeval platforms brought into fashion by Catherine de Medici when she married Henry of France in 1533.
Well, first post, never had a blog before but we'll see how it goes. Will probably just use this to natter about a few of my favourite things, that being fashion and men :) Just been thrown back into the dating world after a difficult three and a half year relationship and at the moment just enjoying being single. Men are infuriating me a little at the moment, cant really be bothered to play games with them. Shoes make me so much happier :)
